about Destination Wattens

The Destination Wattens* has been working on implementing its most important initiative, the Werkstätte Wattens, since the beginning of 2014. A center for start-ups and international companies in various stages of development is located on parts of the former premises of Swarovski Factory 2.

The first partners moved into the location at the end of November 2015 when entrepreneurs began to relocate into the 2,200 m² facility, part of the area formerly occupied by Swarovski. Workshops, Team Offices, a Co-Working Space and a FabLab (Center for Rapid Innovation), are all available for individual use, offering an attractive environment suitable for both young, creative start-ups and established companies.

The emphasis is on attracting companies with a particular focus on technology and innovation. Almost fifty percent of the floor space has been set aside as workshops and production areas. Industrial diversity is an important aspect of the area reserved for co-working.

In addition to the infrastructure, Werkstätte Wattens offers young companies and start-ups a professional range of services, including both, financials and consultation on funding, as well as business model coaching and mentoring programs, accelerators and regular lectures to encourage interdisciplinary exchanges and collaborative networking.

*Destination Wattens is a public-private partnership between the Wattens municipality (40%), and D. Swarovski KG (60%). Its mission is the sustainable development of the regional economic area.
